Crying Uncle: IBMA World of Bluegrass

This project was a 4 camera shoot and live audio recording of the Crying Uncle prerecorded set for the IBMA 2020 World of Bluegrass. It was filmed on the hottest day of the year in 2020 and it was a challenge to keep everything from overheating, including the equipment, instruments and kids! Miles, Teo and their family have been long-time friends and we had their father Christopher on one camera, and my son Julian on the other - truly a family affair! The band did this set in one take and we used the wide shot to send to the festival. Look out for future edits of a couple of the songs and an EP early 2021.

It’s also fun to get in a few photos when we have a chance.

Crying Uncle Bluegrass Band is widely recognized as one of the most exciting young bands in acoustic music, playing a unique mix of Bluegrass, Dawg, Jazz and original modern acoustic music. Winners of the 2018 Pickin’ in the Pines Band Contest in Flagstaff AZ, and selected by the International Bluegrass Music Association to perform at IBMA’s World of Bluegrass in North Carolina, CUBG is making waves in the bluegrass and acoustic community. Brothers Miles and Teo Quale, National and State Champion fiddlers and pickers, are joined by bassist Andrew Osborn and guitarist John Gooding, outstanding young musicians of the vibrant California bluegrass scene.
