Jeremy Allen is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, educator, composer, producer, and audio engineer. He has performed nationally and internationally for over 20 years.  Allen is well versed in the full spectrum of musical genres.  He has extensive background in Venezuelan traditional music, as well as the music of other Latin American countries and the Caribbean.

In 2015, Jeremy co-founded the afro-latin pop group Guarandinga with Rowan Jimenez and Luis Rodrigues. Guarandinga mixes afro-venezuelan rhythms with Oakland funk and hip-hop to create an alt-latino pop sound, full of excitement and energy. Guarandinga will officially step onto the the scene in Spring 2016 with a slammin’ LP and full 7 piece band with performances scheduled throughout California.

Jeremy is also bassist, percussionist, and founding member of the pan Latin-American jazz group Quijeremá; performing, touring and recording with the multi-media arts ensemble since 2002.  In addition to national and international performances with Quijeremá, Allen produces Quijeremá’s original music and sound design for documentary and short feature films. Notably, he recorded, co-produced, and co-arranged the score and musical audio for the PBS/ITVS film “Archaeology of Memory: Villa Grimaldi en Trés Cantos”.

Allen holds a B.A. in American Studies from the University of California, Berkeley with an emphasis in Urban Education and is the owner and engineer of Musiquito Studio, an independent recording studio in Oakland, California. Allen also is an adept instructor of youth multi-media education, videographer, and technical director of the Albany Film Festival. He designs, installs and administers customized audio-visual installations for municipal government, religious institutions and  arts organizations.

As a consultant, Allen assists artists in the creation of the web, social media, and press related content as well as crafting performance contracts, stage plots and technical riders. With this combination of skills and experience, he is able to help artists with professional development in order to effectively produce and promote their art.
